Avoid These Common Moving Mistakes

in Local Moves, Long Distance Moves, Moving & Storage, Piano Movers

Re-locating involves more than just moving your belongings from one place to another.  It is an enormous undertaking requiring careful thought, attention to detail and planning.  3 Guys Moving is a premier packing and moving company with both long distance and local movers.  We have more than three decades of experience and during that time, we’ve learned a bit about what makes a successful move. Let’s take a look at three common mistakes to avoid when making your next move.

FAILING TO PURGE

Moving provides an excellent opportunity to purge items you no longer need and start anew.  Most people are hoarders to some extent.  Items we have an emotional connection to or associate a good memory with are sometimes difficult to let go. Going through items such as clothing, outdated or broken furniture, old appliances and mattresses before the moving company arrives will help you purge items you no longer need.

PACKING

Another common mistake people make when moving is in the area of packing.  Waiting until the last minute to pack can be a recipe for disaster.  Not properly packing your belongings can present problems as well.  3 Guys Moving is a full service moving company so if you wish to avoid some of the pitfalls of packing, let our movers and packers handle it for you.

NOT BEING ORGANIZED

Taking time to plan and organize your move can help avoid much stress.  Make a checklist of tasks in the order they need completed.  Assign family members to handle these tasks.  If you plan to use a full service moving company, just make sure the items you wish for the movers and packers to handle are organized and ready to go.

When it’s time to move, a full service moving company can alleviate much stress by handling the logistics and details of the move itself.  Our movers and packers are experienced, efficient and treat your belongings like their own.  We also are one of the few moving companies with extensive experience in piano moving.  No move is too big or small for our full service movers. When you are ready to re-locate, we can help.  Give your friends at 3 Guys Moving a call today!

Items You May Wish to Reconsider When You Move

in Local Moves, Long Distance Moves, Moving & Storage, Piano Movers

We are continuing our series on items you may wish to donate, sell or discard before you move.  As a moving and storage company, 3 Guys Moving has learned a lot since we started our business more than three decades ago.  We value our customers and try to pass on some of the tips and lessens we’ve learned along the way.  Our previous article discussed evaluating what clothing, appliances and mattresses you wish to take with you.  Here are three more areas to consider:

FURNITURE

Antique furniture and/or family heirlooms are examples of the types of furniture you will probably always want to keep.  However, old furniture that is out of style, broken, or will not blend with the décor of your new home should be donated or discarded, preferably before your movers and packers arrive. Moving old furniture to a new location with the “intention” of replacing it later often leads to procrastination.  If you don’t plan to use it, get rid of it now.

TOYS

While it is tempting to hold on to your children’s old toys, those they no longer use or have outgrown become clutter. Consider donating them to another family or non-profit organization before your moving company arrives.

ITEMS YOU’VE NOT TOUCHED IN OVER A YEAR

Perhaps you have boxes in your attic that you have not touched in years or old knick knacks stuffed in the back room.  Before moving them, consider whether or not you really need them. Your movers and packers will be happy to transport them, but if they can be donated or discarded, consider doing so before you make your move.

When it comes to moving companies, 3 Guys Moving has earned a reputation for being qualified, honest and customer oriented.  Our long distance and local movers want to help ensure you move is smooth and stress-free.  We can handle all types of items and are one of the few moving companies that specialize in piano moving.  Don’t trust just any packing and moving company with your precious belongings.  When it’s time to make a move, your friends at 3 Guys Moving will be here for you.  Give us a call to learn more today!

Items Worth Moving

Not All Items Are Worth Moving

in Featured, Local Moves, Long Distance Moves, Moving & Storage

PART ONE

Moving provides an excellent opportunity to begin anew.  One way to make a fresh start is by only moving the items you absolutely need.  At 3 Guys Moving, our movers and packers have seen it all.  One bit of advice our full service movers highly recommend to customers is to use their move as an opportunity to declutter. Let’s take a look at some items to really go through before your movers and packers arrive.

CLOTHES

Take time to go through your clothes and consider which ones you really need to keep. That sweater from high school may be nice, but if it does not fit anymore, consider donating it.  If your children have clothes that no longer fit or are too worn to wear, it’s probably not worth the time or expense to take them with you.

APPLIANCES

If you have appliances that are old, need fixed or are still hanging on to ones you do not use, consider selling them or donating them before your movers and packers arrive.

MATTRESSES

Mattresses should be replaced every eight to 10 years.  If your mattress is worn out, uncomfortable, lumpy, etc. then it is probably not worth the time or expense to move it to your new home.

Our next article will cover more items to consider donating to charity, selling, or throwing away before your full service movers arrive.

3 Guys Moving has been a preferred moving and storage company serving the Tampa Bay area and beyond for more than three decades.  Our long distance and local movers have the know-how and experience to ensure your move goes smooth and to get the job done right.  Not all full service movers have the expertise and knowledge we have gathered throughout the years. When you need a reliable packing and moving company, we’ll be here for you. Give your friends at 3 Guys Moving a call to learn more.

Storage Options for Your Interim Move

in Corporate Moves, Local Moves, Long Distance Moves, Moving & Storage, Piano Movers, Warehouse Space

When making an interim move, you may need to place some of your belongings in storage.  3 Guys Moving is a full service moving company who has helped customers address their interim storage needs.  Let’s take a look at the different types of storage options to consider.

ON-SITE PACKING CONTAINERS

On-site packing containers have become very popular in recent years.  However, they may be frowned upon by your homeowners association (HOA).  Before choosing this storage option, it is important to review your deed restrictions to ensure you are not violating any HOA rules or subjecting yourself to assessments and fines.

SELF-STORAGE

Self-storage is consider the old standby of storage options. This option requires you to have a vehicle large enough to move your belongings and the time to do so. You will also need to assess your storage needs to determine the right size and type of unit you will need to rent.  Items typically stored indoors should be stored in a climate controlled facility.

MOVING AND STORAGE COMPANY

A moving and storage company can provide you with a safe, streamlined storage solution for your interim move.  3 Guys Moving is a full service moving company with a 23,000 square foot climate controlled warehouse equipped to securely store your household goods.  Our movers and packers will safely move your items to our facility for safe keeping. Then, when you are ready for them to be moved to your new home, our full service movers will bring them to you. This simple, streamlined process is fast, easy, safe, affordable and less time consuming that other storage options!

Not all full service movers provide reliable, safe and secure storage options. 3 Guys Moving has been in business for more than three decades and we’ve learned a lot over the years.  We are a moving and storage company that can handle any size residential or corporate move.  Our long distance and local movers have the experience to get the job done right.  And, when it comes to piano moving, we are one of the preferred piano movers in the area.  Don’t trust just any moving and storage company. Give us a call to experience the 3 Guys Moving difference today!

Costs Associated with Moving

in Local Moves, Long Distance Moves, Moving & Storage, Piano Movers, Warehouse Space

PART TWO

We are continuing our series on the costs associated with moving.  We mentioned in our last article the importance of creating a budget for your move.  We also discussed some costs to consider including utility deposits, packing and cleaning. Today, we will look at more costs to factor into your moving budget.

STORAGE

If you are making an interim move or downsizing, you may need to consider placing some of your belongings in storage.  3 Guys Moving is a qualified moving and storage company with a 23,000 square foot warehouse equipped to meet your storage needs.  We are happy to provide you with a quote for safe and secure storage of your household items.

THE MOVE ITSELF

Finally, you will need to determine the costs of the move itself.  If you use a packing and moving company such as 3 Guys Moving, we can provide you with an up-front quote so you know exactly what to expect.

3 Guys Moving has been a trusted packing and moving company serving residents and businesses throughout Tampa, Florida and beyond.  Our long distance and local movers provide our customers with the best possible moving experience.  If you need piano moving, our piano movers have the training and experience to take care of your precious investment.  When it comes to moving companies, don’t trust just anyone. Let us put our three decades of experience to work for you. Give your friends at 3 Guys Moving a call today!

Costs to Consider When Making a Move

in Local Moves, Long Distance Moves, Moving & Storage, Piano Movers

PART ONE

Let’s face it, moving can be both exciting and stressful at the same time.  One way to alleviate financial stress is by setting a budget for your upcoming move.  We are beginning a new series of articles on costs to consider when planning your move.  Let’s take a closer look at some line items you will need to include in your moving budget:

UTILITY DEPOSITS

Find out what utility deposits you will need to connect water, electric, natural gas, etc. into your new home.  If you are moving locally and already have services, you may not be required to make a deposit.  If you are establishing new services, be sure to find out all costs associated with each service.

PACKING

Whether you plan to pack your belongings yourself or hire movers and packers, there is a cost associated with packing.  If you take on packing yourself, you need to consider the time it is going to take you and cost for supplies such as boxes, packing paper, bubble wrap and packing tape.  If you plan to hire packers, a packing and moving company like 3 Guys Moving has experienced movers and packers who can provide you with a packing quote.

CLEANING

You will need to factor in cleaning costs for both your existing residence and your new home.  You may be required to clean your old residence after the movers and packers take your belongings to your new home. You may also wish to clean your new home before moving in your belongings.

Our next article will cover three more costs to consider when planning your move.  3 Guys Moving is the preferred packing and moving company in Tampa, Florida.  Our long distance and local movers are qualified, experienced and dedicated to ensuring your move goes smooth.  We even offer expert piano moving as well.  Not every full service moving company has your best interests in mind.  We have been in business for more than three decades and take pride in the reputation we’ve earned over the years.  When you need a reliable moving company, we’ll be here.  Give us a call to learn more.

Decreasing the Stress of a Long Distance Move

in Long Distance Moves, Military Moves, Moving & Storage, Piano Movers, Warehouse Space

Long distance moves are often a source of anxiety.  However, with proper planning and a trusted packing and moving company, your long distance move does not have to be a stressful one.  Your friends at 3 Guys Moving understand and are here to help.  Let’s take a look at some planning tips to help decrease the stress of a long distance move.

DETERMINE YOUR TARGET DATE

The first step is to determine a target date for your movers and packers to arrive. When planning this date, consider how long it will take the moving company to transport your belongings to your new location.  Once you have determined a timeframe, give you moving company a call to schedule your move.

PREPARE FOR MOVERS AND PACKERS

The better prepared you are, the easier it will be when your movers and packers arrive.  Declutter and get rid of items you no longer need. Set aside items you do not want the moving and storage company to pack and transport.  Try to keep children and pets in a separate room or designated space so your movers and packers can move about freely with no obstacles.

TAKE ESSENTIALS WITH YOU

Depending on how far your long distance move is, it could be several days before you are reunited with your belongings.  Make sure you take essential items with you such as medication, children’s toys, diapers, personal care items, laptop computers and tablets, pet food bowls and food, etc.

Remember, 3 Guys Moving is a moving and storage company, so if you need to store furniture or other belongings we can do so in our 23,000 sq.ft. climate-controlled warehouse.  In fact, we are an approved military storage facility.  Our movers and packers are experienced and equipped to handle your move.  We even have trained piano movers on staff. Not all moving companies are equal.  We’ve been in business for more than three decades and have worked with thousands of satisfied customers.  Give us a call to learn more today!

What Appliances Should I Take With Me?

in Featured, Local Moves, Long Distance Moves, Moving & Storage, Piano Movers

At 3 Guys Moving, we are dedicated to helping your entire move go smooth.  As a packing and moving company with more than three decades of experience, we assist our customers with everything, from planning and packing to moving and getting set up in their new home or office.

We are continuing our series designed to help you determine what appliances to take with you when you move.  Our previous article discussed making a comprehensive list of all your appliances, noting what appliances you are contractually obligated to leave behind for buyers, and identifying what appliances are included with your new home/condo/apartment.  Let’s look at three more tips to help you decide what appliances to keep and which to let go.

SHOP AROUND

Before you decide to get rid of your existing appliances, shop around to find out how much new appliances will cost.  In some cases, it may be worth spending extra money for added features.  And, sometimes it’s better to just keep what you have.

CONSIDER SPACE IN YOUR NEW HOME

Think about the space in your new home and determine whether existing appliances will fit.  How much counter space will you have?  Do you have a dedicated laundry room or are the washer and dryer hookups in the garage? These are all aspects to consider.

EVALUATE MOVING COSTS

Your full service movers are happy to handle any appliances you may have.  However, be mindful of the fact that the added weight and space will increase your moving costs.  3 Guys Moving is happy to provide you with an estimate before our movers and packers arrive.

Moving can be stressful, but don’t fret.  Your friends at 3 Guys Moving will be here with you every step of the way.  And, since we are a moving and storage company, we can even store your belongings in our climate-controlled storage during an interim move. We handle all types of moves, from simple door-to-door moves to cross country.  And, when it comes to piano movers, we are among the best in the business!  When you work with 3 Guys Moving, you will quickly see that we are not a typical full service moving company.  Our movers and packers treat your belongings like their own and truly care about each and every customer.  Don’t trust just any long distance or local movers.  Experience the 3 Guys Moving difference. Give us a call today!

What Appliances Should I Leave Behind?

in Featured, Local Moves, Long Distance Moves, Moving & Storage, Piano Movers

Moving to a new home involves making many decisions.  Deciding which appliances to take and which ones to leave behind can be challenging.  3 Guys Moving is a full service moving company who has helped thousands of satisfied customers deal with these types of moving decisions.  Our next series of articles will offer some insight on how to address your existing appliances.

MAKE A LIST OF WHAT YOU HAVE

Start with making a comprehensive list of all of your appliances.  This may include large appliances such as washers and dryers as well as smaller items such as toaster ovens, hand mixers, wine coolers and air fryers.  Once you have your list, rank the items: 1 – use daily; 2 – use weekly; 3 – use rarely.  Then, look at the qualities and features of each.  This can help you narrow your appliance list down to “must haves” and “optional”.

NOTE WHAT ITEMS YOU MUST LEAVE BEHIND

Your real estate contract may designate what appliances you must leave behind.  Often times, buyers will request that appliances such as dishwashers, ovens, refrigerators and sometimes even washers and dryers become part of the sale.

NOTE WHAT ITEMS WILL BE AT YOUR NEW PLACE

Make a list of what appliances will be included in your new home/condo/apartment.  If these appliances are comparable or better than the ones you already have, then the decision about whether to keep those particular appliances is much easier.

Our next article will cover more tips to help you decide which appliances to take with you when you move.

3 Guys Moving is a packing and moving company with a team of experienced full service movers dedicated to ensuring your move goes smooth. No job is too big or challenging for our movers and packers.  We have handled everything from collections and antiques to everyday items such as clothes, toys and furniture.  And, when it comes to piano movers, we are considered one of the best! Don’t trust just any moving company. Whether you are looking for long distance or local movers, there is a difference.  Give your friends at 3 Guys Moving a call to learn more today.
