Making Sure Your Items Are Properly Packed
We are continuing our series of articles on packing. As a full service moving company, we take great pride in keeping your belongings safe during your move. If we handle your packing, you can trust that our movers and packers will do everything possible to ensure your belongings are properly packed. However, if you are packing yourself, there are some factors to consider. Our previous article discussed using quality packing materials and securely wrapping fragile items. Let’s take a look at two more tips.
PACK BOXES TO THE TOP
It is important to make sure all of your boxes are fully packed. Leaving space on top or along the sides can result in the boxes getting crushed and/or risk damage from contents moving around during transport. If you have odd size items that will not completely fill the box, our movers and packers recommend stuffing the open space with items such as towels, moving peanuts, bubble wrap or crumpled packing paper.
PROPERLY STACK BOXES
It is important for boxes to be properly stacked at all times. This includes when they are being prepped for the moving truck, when they are placed in the moving truck, and when they are then moved into your new home. Heavy boxes should be placed on the bottom. Delicate items should be placed in the truck last.
