SET UP ELECTRONICS AND APPLIANCES

Try to unpack and set up the appliances and electronics you need to ensure your ability to be productive.  Computers, Wi-Fi, televisions, sound systems, coffee makers and air fryers are among some of the electronics and appliances you may want to consider setting up sooner than later.

BEGIN TO MAKE THE SPACE YOUR OWN

Making the space begin to feel like your own can ease stress and even help you keep your momentum.  Hang a few pictures, display family photos, fill the wine rack with wine, anything that makes your space feel like “home”.

EAT AND STAY HYDRATED

Physical limitations can keep you from achieving your unpacking goals.  While it is easy to lose track of time, be sure to stay hydrated and eat regular meals to help remain alert and keep your body in tip top shape.

We are continuing our series highlighting some of the packing strategies used by professional movers and packers.  Our previous articles discussed utilizing wardrobe boxes for hanging clothes, leaving items in drawers and security shrink wrapping the drawers for transport, utilizing linens, towels, and blankets to keep fragile items from breaking, and implementing a color code system to keep items organized. This article will cover two more packing tips to consider.

UTILIZE POTS, BOWLS AND CONTAINERS

When packing your pots, bowls, and containers, try to put items inside of them before placing them in moving boxes.  Small kitchen items, spices, utensils, gadgets, etc. are ideal items to pack in pots, bowls and containers.

PACK YOUR SUITCASES WITH CLOTHES AND ESSENTIAL ITEMS

Since unpacking could take awhile, be sure to pack your suitcases with essential items including a few days’ worth of clothes, medicine, phone chargers, and anything else you cannot live without for three or more days.

When moving, you have two choices for packing. You can either pack your belongings yourself or hire movers and packers to do it for you.  There are many advantages of using full service movers and packers.  For instance, a packing and moving company sends professionals who are equipped with the proper packing materials to securely pack your items.  Movers and packers not only save time but alleviate the stress of packing.

PUT HANGING CLOTHES IN WARDROBE BOXES

Leaving your clothes on the hanger and hanging them in wardrobe boxes is ideal because it makes them so much easier to unpack.  All you need to do is have the movers and packers place the wardrobe boxes in their corresponding rooms and then transfer the clothes directly into the closets.

WRAP DRESSER DRAWERS

One simple but effective time saving trick is to leave your clothes and other items in your dresser drawers and securely shrink wrap them.  Once you get to your new home, simply unwrap the drawer and put it in the dresser.
