More Tips to Avoid Mishaps on Moving Day
We are continuing our series of articles providing you with tips to help you avoid mishaps on moving day. Our previous article discussed the importance of making sure the boxes you pack are not too heavy to safely handle and determining where you would like for your full service movers and packers to set your furniture and belongings when they bring them into your new home. Today, we will look at more helpful tips to consider.
IF YOU HAVE TO LIFT, USE YOUR LEGS
If you hire full service movers and packers, they will do all the heavy lifting for you. However, if you find that you need to lift and move items at any point during the process, then be sure to lift with your legs and not your back. Lifting heavy items using your back muscles increases the chances of back and neck injuries. When lifting, try to maintain a wide base of support with your feet flat on the ground. Then squat to pick up the box/item and then use your legs to move upward.
KEEP FOOT TRAFFIC AREAS CLEAR
It’s extremely easy for small items, toys, and other obstacles to find their way into high traffic areas during a move. Strive to keep all paths free of people, pets, and clutter so your full service movers and packers can have a clear pathway to work within while moving your belongings.
Our next article will cover more tips to help you prevent moving day mishaps.
