DETERMINE YOUR TARGET DATE

The first step is to determine a target date for your movers and packers to arrive. When planning this date, consider how long it will take the moving company to transport your belongings to your new location.  Once you have determined a timeframe, give you moving company a call to schedule your move.

PREPARE FOR MOVERS AND PACKERS

The better prepared you are, the easier it will be when your movers and packers arrive.  Declutter and get rid of items you no longer need. Set aside items you do not want the moving and storage company to pack and transport.  Try to keep children and pets in a separate room or designated space so your movers and packers can move about freely with no obstacles.

TAKE ESSENTIALS WITH YOU

Depending on how far your long distance move is, it could be several days before you are reunited with your belongings.  Make sure you take essential items with you such as medication, children’s toys, diapers, personal care items, laptop computers and tablets, pet food bowls and food, etc.
